Nursery Care

We are so glad to have children in our services. Their cries, squeals and giggles are a great sign of life! They are good, and having them in worship helps them understand what the church is about. We encourage you to have your kids with you in the pew.

But we also know kids are squirmy. If your little one would be more comfortable in the nursery, we provide a nursery worker at the 8:30 and 11:00 services.  You can drop your child off before the service begins, or feel free to start the service with your child and move them into the nursery as need be. We want kids to think of church as home, and making sure they are comfortable, happy, and safe is a priority.

Our nursery worker has received a background check and abides by our safe sanctuary covenant. ChildProtectionStandards2017.doc Your children are in good hands at Cross Lanes United Methodist Church. If you desire to stay with them in the nursery, a live feed from the sanctuary makes it easy for you to stay connected.

For those who may feel their preschool aged children are too old for the nursery, please see information on Jesus and Me (JAM). Children Worship is available for our elementary school children.

Jesus and Me (JAM), Preschoolers

What it is:

At CLUMC we value kids, and we’ve been listening to families. Many of them are like you—they yearn for a place their preschoolers can encounter God through worship in a way they understand. JAM is a brand-new kind of devotional experience for children whose brains need play, music, and narrative repetition to bring the Scripture to life. If your child is potty-trained, but not yet ready for the reading required for full participation in children’s worship. JAM is the perfect opportunity. Available only at the 11:00AM worship service.

How it works:

Your child will start service with you in your pew. After the children’s sermon preschoolers are escorted by our volunteers to their own space, and are returned to the nursery for pickup following the service.

Our nursery continues to available for our smallest worshipers, and Children’s Church serves readers-5th grade.

Children’s Worship

What it is:

Cross Lanes United Methodist Church desires for children to love worship. One way we help children grow toward full participation in worship is by helping them understand church tradition and liturgy.

In Children’s Worship kids get an opportunity to learn, grow and connect to one another and to God in a setting that allows for their the movement and questions natural to them.

How it works:

Your child will start service with you in your pew. After the children’s sermons, kids through fifth grade will be escorted by our director of children’s ministry, Angela, to the Chapel. When the 11:00 service is complete, you can pick your child up at the Chapel, across from the gym in the Family Life Center.
